STEVE MCCONNELL is best known as the author of Code Complete, a software industry classic that is often described as the best-reviewed, best-selling software development book of all time. Steve’s books have sold more than 1 million copies and have been translated into 20 languages. His most recent book is More Effective Agile: A Roadmap for Software Leaders.

Steve has been recognized as one of the world’s leading software development experts for more than two decades and has worked with hundreds of software leaders in organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to garage start-ups. In 1998, readers of Software Development magazine named Steve one of the three most influential people in the software industry, along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds.  In 2019, the Forbes Technology Council named his book, Code Complete, “the single best cornerstone book on good software development.” Steve has been quoted in The Economist, The New York Times, The Guardian, and other major publications.

Steve is also a leading expert in software measurement, and author of Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art,  which won Amazon’s computer and internet book of the year award in 2006. During the Covid pandemic, Steve’s CovidComplete forecast model was consistently among the most accurate of the models contributing to the CDC’s forecast model of record.

Steve is the founder and CEO of Construx Software, a software consulting and training firm based in Bellevue, Washington.
