STEVE MCCONNELL is the author of some of software development’s most respected and best selling books. His first book, Code Complete, is a software industry classic that is often described as the best-reviewed, best-selling software development book of all time. Steve’s books have sold more than 1 million copies and have been translated into more than a dozen languages. His books include Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art, Professional Software Development, Rapid Development, and Software Project Survival Guide. Steve was voted one of the three most influential people in the software industry alongside Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds.
In addition to writing and speaking, Steve is the founder and CEO of Construx Software, a software consulting firm based in Bellevue, Washington. For more than 20 years, Construx has been helping leading-edge companies improve their software development capabilities through private on-site seminars, online courses, and customized consulting engagements. Steve practices what he preaches, and as a result his company has often been recognized as the best small company to work for in Washington state.
Steve’s most recent project is a unique lecture series titled Understanding Software Projects. This series captures insights distilled from 20 years of working with leading edge companies — and not-so-leading-edge companies — worldwide for more than 20 years.
He hosts the Software Executive Summit annually, where top software Directors, CxO’s and VP’s meet for workshops, discussion groups, and special keynotes to stay abreast of the best ways to run software projects.
